Published Author?

-- You Never Know What You Are Truly Capable Of Doing Until You Try -- Writer and Baker? I have been meaning to share this post with you all since last summer! If you can't tell from all of my blogs, I find joy and peace in writing. I took a creative writing class during my sophomore year of college. Weirdly enough, I was a little apprehensive about taking that course because a majority of it was focused on poetry. I love writing, but I literally can't stand writing poetry. I think it comes down to the fact that I just don't have a knack for it. This being said I do greatly appreciate those who are gifted in this department and am in awe of the beauty they can create with words alone.  Anyways, our final project for this class was to submit one of the pieces we worked on throughout the year to a publisher of our choosing in hopes of being published in a literary journal. At the time, I viewed submitting my work as a check off of my long to-do list. (I couldn't pass the...

Practice Makes Perfect!

We've All Got To Start Somewhere!

It is amazing to see how much I have grown in cookie decorating since I started my craft back in 2018. Something that originally started as a hobby began to flourish into a passion. I look back at my first projects and can't help but laugh! All of my first cookies had a similar theme: more cookie showing than flooding, shaky writing, very interesting color combinations, and lots of air bubbles. Below is a photo of my VERY FIRST cookie set that I made back in high school with one of my close friends.

Both High School Musical and Zac Efron still hold a special place in my heart! These cookies, no matter how flawed, remain greatly special to me because they introduced me to the world of cookie decorating. It was this set that helped launch me into the place I am today. Bakery owner and cookie enthusiast!

Where I Am At Today!

The amazing thing about cookie decorating is that there is always room for improvement! New techniques, designs, and ideas are constantly being introduced into the world. Because of this fact, I started to do a lot of cookie research after my first attempt in 2018 and I realized just how much is involved in the craft. It's not simply just cutting dough, baking shapes, and slapping frosting on top. It is truly an art.

While I wouldn't have considered my first cookie set art, I realize now that it was in its own way. Were my cookies as refined as they are now? Absolutely not! But that shows growth and that's all I can ask for. All of this to say, with hard work and determination, you can produce results that you are proud of! Below, I have attached a picture of one of my most recent cookie projects!

I hope that this post brings you encouragement of some kind. If you are wanting to get involved in cookie decorating, go for it! Take that leap! Take my word for it, you will not regret it. Maybe you just need a friendly reminder that you can do whatever you put your mind to. Either way, I hope you go out and strive to achieve whatever it may be that you want to do in your life!
