Published Author?

-- You Never Know What You Are Truly Capable Of Doing Until You Try -- Writer and Baker? I have been meaning to share this post with you all since last summer! If you can't tell from all of my blogs, I find joy and peace in writing. I took a creative writing class during my sophomore year of college. Weirdly enough, I was a little apprehensive about taking that course because a majority of it was focused on poetry. I love writing, but I literally can't stand writing poetry. I think it comes down to the fact that I just don't have a knack for it. This being said I do greatly appreciate those who are gifted in this department and am in awe of the beauty they can create with words alone.  Anyways, our final project for this class was to submit one of the pieces we worked on throughout the year to a publisher of our choosing in hopes of being published in a literary journal. At the time, I viewed submitting my work as a check off of my long to-do list. (I couldn't pass the...

Do You Make Anything Other Than Sugar Cookies?!

The Four C's: Cookies, Cupcakes, Cakes, and Cinnamon Rolls

Soley a Sugar Cookie Lady?!

Yes, sugar cookies are my passion, but I love baking other desserts too! While almost all of my orders adhere to custom cookies, I still fulfill a lot of requests for cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, the occasional small cake, etc. I have to say that I really enjoy switching it up every once in and while! The cookie burnout is real.

I thought that I would dedicate this blog post to highlighting some of my non-sugar cookie orders! Sit back, sip on your beverage of choice, and start scrolling through some mouth-watering treats. Enjoy my friends!

Cookies (Not of the Sugar Variety)
  • Ginger Snaps: I had an abundance of these cookies ordered this last summer! Fun fact: I can thank these cookies for helping me reconnect with a childhood friend which then turned into a valuable present-day friendship. Let's be completely real for a second: I really, really, really dislike ginger snaps. I was seconds away from creating some random excuse of why I couldn't do this project strictly on the basis of my distaste for the product. Although I am so grateful I stepped up to the plate!
    • I think one of the hardest things about baking something you dislike is that you can't gain an accurate gauge of taste. For example, the second that the sparking sugar of the molasses-based cookie touches my tongue, I'm already dissatisfied. Thankfully, many individuals in my family were more than happy to taste test and provided me with more helpful feedback. Let me tell ya, you can always find a willing participant to consume free desserts! If you ever need some extra spice in your life, call me up for some ginger snaps!

  • Chocolate Chip: Ooey gooey goodness! Chocolate chip cookies take the cake for my favorite dessert...you simply cannot convince me otherwise. Some of my best memories include baking chocolate chip cookies for my loved ones. When I was in Elementary school, my Grandma would always call me to "order" some chocolate chip cookies. Those times are such precious memories to me because I was able to spend meaningful time with my Grandparents while indulging in the best treat ever made. To this day, whenever I visit them or vice versa, I always find myself in the kitchen baking them our favorite cookies. I probably sound like a broken record by now, but cookies have the ability to bring people together in the most beautiful way!!
Everyone needs a photo shoot with their favorite dessert right?!

A little spotlight on my Grandparents who have loyally indulged in my chocolate chip cookies! Love you both!

Also, can we all take a moment to appreciate this cute packaging? Absolutely in love!!

  • Monster Cookies: Let me assure you, there is nothing actually scary about the monster cookie! Rather, they are a wonderful combination of so many yummy components. Peanut butter, oatmeal, m&m's, chocolate chips...you name it, it's in there! My cousin Morgan and I share a special love for monster cookies! So much so, that they tend to show up at every single family gathering because why not?! I often like to think of my life as similar to that of this particular cookie. There are so many things that contribute to making me, me. If multiple of those things were taken from my life, I would be a completely different person. In a similar sense, the monster cookie is delicious because of the interaction of multiple flavors. Leave one out and the result just isn't the same.
Scary good food!

Cupcakes
  • Instead of breaking down every cupcake flavor I've ever made, I am opting to provide more of a highlight reel. (Pretty sure I am one of the only ones reading this who fangirls over detailed breakdowns of baked goods!) I've baked cupcakes for family parties, large and small-scale weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other exciting occasions! Who doesn't love an elevated muffin topped with the tastiest form of sugar? The frosting is a real danger to me!
    • What I really love about cupcakes is how versatile their designs can be! For example, you can transform a cupcake into an elegant masterpiece fit to be showcased at a magnificent wedding. You can add a carefree element by adding cute sprinkles, pretty much guaranteeing the joy of a five-year-old. Finally, you can make a cupcake plain and simple to enjoy on a casual Tuesday. If you dream it, you can most definitely do it! Here are a few photos of my more memorable cupcake projects recently.

Cakes
  • I honestly have instant anxiety when a customer inquires about a cake. I. AM. NOT. A. CAKE. DECORATOR. (Until I am...) All jokes aside, I actually do enjoy making the occasional cake for friends or family. There is so much I still need to learn when it comes to cake decorating, but we are getting there slowly but surely. I am constantly amazed by the ways people can manipulate cakes and sculpt the most awe-inspiring edible art! Aren't people so inspiring?!
    • While I claim to not be a cake decorator, I've decorated my fair share of cakes! Let's take a look down memory lane :)

A sweet anniversary cake for one of the guys I worked with on the construction site! (Let me just say, working in construction for a few summers provided me with great networking opportunities! I guess all that shoveling really did pay off!)

Pressed flower wedding cake?! What a beauty!

Cinnamon Rolls
  • Cinnamon Rolls are the last of my "Four C's". My mom has a knack for making cinnamon rolls that I wish I had. She has taught me how to make them, but they just don't taste the same! It must be her magic touch or something. When it comes to clients ordering cinnamon rolls, my mom is always right there alongside me in the process. I don't know what I would do without her!
    • Once again, frosting is my favorite element of this specific dessert. Sugar, sugar, and more sugar. I've had the cinnamon rolls without the glaze topping, but if you have the option, always top it off with the irresistible goodness. This is making me want to bake some cinnamon rolls for myself!
Does it get much better than this?!

There you have it folks! Time for a little closing bit! Hopefully, you are able to walk away from the post knowing that you can contact me for more than sugar cookies. If you really want to order a sweet treat, claim your spot asap! If you do choose to order from me, don't forget to capture a picture of the goodies at your special event and send it my way! I love seeing people enjoying my baked goods and building community! (Maybe you will even get featured in my blog!)
