Spotlight: Butterfly Baby Shower Cookies
The Cutest Combination!
Who doesn't love butterflies and baby showers? I received this order from a client quite a while ago and it truly excited me every step of the way. The color scheme was breathtaking and the designs were all new to me! I appreciated all the creative freedom given to me throughout all the steps of the process. What I ended up crafting was something I will never forget!
This cookie project came full circle! Back in October, I was making surprise baby announcement cookies for the same client to reveal the exciting secret to their loved ones. Now come March, I was gifted with the opportunity to make cookies for them again to welcome their sweet little girl. Lilah is already so loved!
Here are the baby announcement cookies from October!
Four Designs = Quadruple the Fun
For the rest of this post, I will take you through the ins and the outs of this sweet order. I love how these cookies turned out because they incorporate four distinct designs that mesh together beautifully! Let's examine them a little closer!
-- Butterfly Baby Shower Highlight --
- Butterfly Onesie: My mom actually came up with the idea for these cookies! She truly is the brain behind my designs. The dainty white butterfly in the center adds the perfect touch and ties into the theme in a subtle way. The sleeves of the onesie also mimic butterfly wings through the simplistic piping detail. Along with these finer details, the flood-on-flood technique allowed for an almost flawless seam between the bluish-grey and sage-green color hues. This onesie is probably one of my favorite cookies I have ever made and no one can convince me otherwise!!
- Colors: Sage green, bluish grey, white
- Techniques Used: Piping and wet-on-wet
Cute Enough to Wear!

- Baby Bottle: I had a lot of fun brainstorming possible ideas for this cookie! After a lot of creative research (aka browsing Pinterest for far too long), I decided upon the half-butterfly design. I love that it is detailed, yet simple. Elegant, delicate, and muted in tone. The piping detail on the lid adds the perfect touch and the green color provides a much-needed pop of color. All the colors throughout the sweet treats complement each other in an absolutely wonderful way.
- Colors: Sage green, white, peach/blush pink
- Techniques Used: Piping and stenciling (Stencil with thicker flooding and fill with looser flooding)
Stunning! There isn't anymore that I can say!

- Bib: If there was one cookie design I was apprehensive about, it was this one! I pride myself in having great handwriting, but I feel like my handwriting with piping is just not the same. You can never predict how the piping will come out of the bottle...nine times out of ten, it is in the way you don't want. All of this to say, the bibs turned out absolutely divine! The white flooding frill added the necessary texture and the green cursive shined bright. I am still thankful that the cursive lettering turned out!
- Colors: Sage green and white
- Techniques Used: Piping and textured flooding
Piping on Point!

- Baby Feet: This design was chosen because I had never utilized the cutter before! It fits perfectly in with the theme and adds just the right amount of color to the whole set. Stenciling was also utilized in this situation to obtain the foot-like image. While free-handing images like these are possible, stenciling allows you to reach a new level of precision!
- Colors: White and peach/blush pink
- Techniques Used: Double flood layer and stenciling
Finishing with the Feet!
Flying into the Weekend!
I'm not going to lie, I have been in a little bit of a blogging slump! The motivation hasn't been there, the creative ideas haven't been rolling, and frankly, my life has been overly busy. I want my blog to be a carefree outlet that I delight in engaging in! Because of this, I stepped away for two weeks to rekindle my love for posting. I've taken a much-needed break and am excited to share more of my completed projects with you all! I could not have selected a more perfect cookie set to restart posting again with.
As always, I am beyond thankful for you all! My books are completely full through May and I have so many exciting projects coming up! Thanks for reading! Hope to see you back here soon🦋
I love it Libby! Absolutely amazing! We need to hold a spot for Gabe and Liv’s shower! I’ll work on details this week!
