-- My Short Break from Blogging and My Past 8 Orders --
I am FINALLY back!!
It has been quite a long time since my last blog post and I forgot how much I love updating you all! My summer has been off to a hectic start between super exciting bakery orders, nannying, and summer school. The month of June has truly helped me learn how to establish a healthy balance in my life. Working 24/7 just leads to burnout, so being intentional about walking away and taking time for myself every once in a while has made all the difference.
Since I haven't posted here in so long, I have so much cookie content to share! I was talking to someone the other day about my business and it is so amazing to see how much progression in skill can develop in the course of a year. If you would have asked me last year at this time if I thought I could tackle some of my current cookie designs, I would have said "Absolutely not!". With the right amount of dedication and hard work, you can surmount and accomplish extraordinary things.
8 Orders Filled with Beauty!
1. First Communion Cookies: I have to say that I am not usually drawn to cookie sets that are mostly white and have minimal color. I love a good pop of color!! Although, these pure white cookies embellished with olive green accents turned out beautiful! If I were to select a favorite cookie from this order it would be the cross with the tiny pearl embellishment located at its center.

2. Dirt Bike Birthday Cookies: I have blogged about these cookies in the past, but I received another order of them for a different client. The slight difference this time around was the addition of a "bike number" on each cookie adding an extra personalized touch!
3. Mother's Day Tulip Bouquet: This was an order I was excited about from the moment I received the inquiry. First off, I LOVE pink and I feel like I never use it on orders so the tulips were already growing on me. I also loved the idea of gifting my client's mother a bouquet of flowers that is 100% edible. All in all this order brought me an abundance of joy!
4. Tiger Cookies: I made these cute tiger cookies for the first graders at the elementary school where my mom teaches. This is actually my second year in a row making them for this teacher's end-of-the-year gift for her students. They turned out absolutely adorable and were definitely first grader-approved!!
5. Torch Cookies: I received the most questions about this order when I posted it to my Instagram page back in May. My mom's old partner teacher at her school would loyally order cookies for her students on all of the holidays. She retired this last year after pouring her heart and soul into countless children over the past 47 years. She is truly an inspiration to me and to all of those around her. As a gift to her staff, she wanted me to create torches as she "passes the torch" onto the next generation of educators. Such a special way to celebrate the end of her outstanding career.
6. Wildflower Wedding: Not going to lie, piping florals give me anxiety. Whether it be on cookies or on paper, I have never really mastered drawing flowers. Although I was wary of the outcome, I couldn't have asked for a better end result. The wildflowers were full of life and detail. My hands definitely suffered after this order, but as always, it was 100% worth it in the end.
7. Baby Shower Cookies: I fell in LOVE with these cookies! A little over a week before the due date of these cookies I got in a really bad rolling skiing accident and couldn't sit down normally for a week. I started worrying that the cookies wouldn't turn out how I wanted them to due to this painful setback. However, I recovered just in time and the cookies were so darling! I was proud of myself for tackling three new designs and being able to execute them all. You can't convince me these aren't the cutest cookies you've ever seen!
8. Bridal Shower Cookies: Simple and Elegant. Those two words sum up this whole project. Like I mentioned before with the communion cookies, I was apprehensive about a plethora of white with minimal accents of gold. There was no need for me to be worried because the finished set was breathtaking. Clean, simplistic, yet jaw-droppingly gorgeous. My favorite of this set was the wedding cake due to the detail on the layers which make it look frosted!!
It Feels Great to be Back!
After typing this post, I remember why I started making blog posts in the first place. I love...
- Sharing behind-the-scenes looks into my orders
- Telling stories through cookies
- Admitting the different struggles I faced along the way and how I overcame them
- Pointing out my favorite decorative details and why they stick out to me as important
- Offering up tips and tricks for your own baking journey
- Being able to share a small glimpse into my life and show where baking is taking me
- Having a creative space to further spread my creative endeavors
As you can see, there is so much I love about baking and being able to share that love with others. Despite my crazy schedule, I hope to step away from the baking sheets from time to time and fill everyone in on all things art in the form of cookies. I'm greatly thankful for all of you who have supported me and allowed me to utilize my creativity in an awe-inspiring fashion! Make today a great one!
