-- You Never Know What You Are Truly Capable Of Doing Until You Try -- Writer and Baker? I have been meaning to share this post with you all since last summer! If you can't tell from all of my blogs, I find joy and peace in writing. I took a creative writing class during my sophomore year of college. Weirdly enough, I was a little apprehensive about taking that course because a majority of it was focused on poetry. I love writing, but I literally can't stand writing poetry. I think it comes down to the fact that I just don't have a knack for it. This being said I do greatly appreciate those who are gifted in this department and am in awe of the beauty they can create with words alone.  Anyways, our final project for this class was to submit one of the pieces we worked on throughout the year to a publisher of our choosing in hopes of being published in a literary journal. At the time, I viewed submitting my work as a check off of my long to-do list. (I couldn't pass the...

Ready to Relax!!

 -- A Much Needed Update --

Another Semester Finished!

I am done with another semester of school and am only three semesters away from my future career! The end is in sight. Both November and December have flown by due to a copious amount of cookie orders and final projects. Leave it to me to schedule the bulk of my cookie orders during finals week haha! Despite the craziness, the cookies I have produced over the past two months have been incredible to make. The designs were more technical/creative, and challenged me as a "cookier". Some orders even led to things I would have never expected!

Let's jump into the fun part! Cookie pictures, short stories, and life updates :)

Cookie Catalog!

*As always, click on the pictures to get the best photo quality!
  • Poppy Cookies: The most adorable cookies for the most adorable little pup! My cousin recently welcomed a new addition to her family and it is safe to say that Poppy is loved by all! What better way to celebrate her arrival than by making puppy cookies?!

I mean it doesn't get much cuter than this!!!!

  • Volleyball Cookies: Writing on cookies used to stress me out. However, the more I do it, the more comfortable I am with it. I loved the style of numbers in this order! Not your traditional bubble letter which adds a fun flair. Of course, I had to make some for the fam, so that I got a uniform picture! Make friends with a baker and the baked goods will never stop coming your way!

  • Halloween Cookies: Literally so aesthetic! The minimalistic look of these cookies really made them shine. The little spider is so adorable and the ghost somehow is filled with personality despite only having two dots for eyes. I was happy to have a Halloween order this year that went beyond my usual designs!

  • Family Halloween Order: My mom always jokes that we never get to truly enjoy my cookies because I am always making them for someone else. Because of this, I made sure to make time for a family order this year! As usual, my mom researches design ideas for me. She showed me this skeleton design that I really didn't want to do because it looked nearly impossible and extremely tedious. I ended up accepting the challenge and I am so happy I did because they turned out so fun! The little bones about put me over the edge, but so worth it to see how happy my mom was with the final product!!

  • AMA Logo Cookies: I don't usually accept logo cookie orders because trying to recreate logos can be very difficult when you are working with frosting as your writing utensil. Despite the difficulty, I was happy with how these cookies turned out. You can see the cookie creation and actual logo below!

  • Graduation Cookies: I was very excited about this order because I don't usually get graduation orders at this time of year. I loved the bold colors and simplistic design. Graduating college is one of the most exciting accomplishments to celebrate! Thrilled that I was able to help contribute to this notable celebration!

  • Ski Break: One of the most beautiful views while skiing last month! Always looking for XC ski buddies...ask the question, and I'll meet you on the trails!

  • Thanksgiving Cookies: I honestly had so much fun making these cookies! The cookies were actually smaller in size, so the design needed to be much more intricate and precise. I think I fooled myself into thinking that these cookies were actually Thanksgiving turkeys! Look at the photos below and let me know what you think.

  • Escape Room Cookies: These cookies intimidated me more than they should have. I don't usually do well with new things, situations, etc. This same trait also carries over to making designs I have never attempted on cookies before. I was thankful that my client provided me with so much inspiration and granted me full creative freedom. Don't fear new things because beautiful things (cookies in my case) just might come from them!! The mazes were definitely a personal favorite!

  • Baseball Baby Shower Cookies: Baby shower cookies never disappoint! They are always cute and oh-so fun to create! I have seen so many other cookiers doing this baby shower theme on cookies, so I was very excited to give it a go. The rattles were my favorite design by far! I also caught the Alaskan sunset while quickly photographing this heartwarming set!

  • Arteries with Blockages and Stents: Not going to lie, never thought I'd make cookies with arteries on them! This is my second year making cookies for this client and I absolutely love the faith they have in me to put the most obscure things on cookies. This year I attempted to do a before and after cookie. The before cookie is an artery with a blockage and the after is an artery with a stent. Literally such a creative idea and I love them in a weird sort of way. Cookie decorating is the best because you can create cookies that mean something to people. You and I might not love the look of arteries on cookies, but my client was over the moon.

  • Alaska Airlines Cookies: SUCH. A. COOL. COOKIE. SET. These cookies turned out so much cooler than I could have ever imagined. The logo was on point and the little details really tied everything together. My grandma is still a flight attendant and was gifting these cookies to one of her flight attendant besties. Cookies are always the best choice of holiday gifts!! Even got a feature on Alaska Airlines Instagram page and I fangirled way more than I would like to admit ;)

  • Christmas Cookies: Literally some of my favorite cookies I have ever made were included in this set! They were both merry and bright! The amount of messages I got about the love for all the sprinkles is making me think of ways to add sprinkles to future sets. If these cookies don't scream Christmas, I don't know what does!

The peppermint is my personal favorite :)

The Catalog has Come to a Sad End!

I shared all, but one order that I have created in the past two months. (I can't reveal the last one until tomorrow!) I have been seriously blown away by the amount of people who have been requesting custom cookies lately. I am immensely grateful for all of your support! I appreciate you all so much that I can't even express it in words. I hope you enjoyed a quick showcase of some of my latest cookie projects. Let me know in the comments which one was your favorite!

You all are the best and bake today a great one! 💗, LJay
